Brexit transition and job support

You might be interested to read the latest on government support to retain jobs; very much a current issue. But let’s not forget that Brexit will soon be on us. Start planning today using the details below.

The Job Support Scheme opens on 1 November 2020 for 6 months. It aims to protect viable jobs in businesses facing lower demand over the winter months due to Covid-19. The cost of hours not worked will be split between the employer, the Government and the employee, so that the employee is able to keep their job.

Full details of the Job Retention Bonus will be published in January 2021. This is a £1,000 one-off taxable payment to the employer, for each eligible employee that you furloughed and kept continuously employed until 31 January 2021. You must claim the bonus between 15 February and 31 March 2021.

Brexit Transition Planning. Brexit is just around the corner. Don’t forget to prepare now as there will be changes regardless of whether we reach a trade agreement.  If you import or export goods, hire people from the EU or provide services in EY markets you will need to plan for the transition, effective from 1st January 2021.
